Track 8
WHEN IT GETS COLD
Cut live in the studio with me playing the Guild D40 that my parents bust a financial gut to buy for me back when I was 15. It's ended up on a fair few very successful records since then, I think they'd be happy to know that - plus it gets mellower by the year, I guess its owner could learn from it.
LYRICS
When it gets cold the nights get long
The axis tilts, the wind sings torch songs
The shining green turned red and gold
You're on my mind when it gets cold
Wings are beating, lamps are lit
The sun is hiding there'll be no chasing it
It's like we blinked and the year got old
You're on my mind when it gets cold
Mist is hanging over town
Silver tone, brilliance down
This was your season, your time of year
The world was warmer when you were here
Kith and kin, fire and wine
Old songs and stories sounding so fine
Ain't this life something, something to behold
You're on my mind when it gets cold
We've got a world you might not recognise
They tore the book up before our eyes
They made a lot of stuff just disappear
And the world was warmer when you were here
When it gets cold I keep these things
I count the days and count the blessings
Mine to have, not to hold
You're on my mind when it gets hold
